MOOREA, PEARL OF POLYNESIA

A 7-minute flight from Tahiti, you enter the Polynesia of yesteryear...at the Fenua Mata'i'oa hotel, time has stopped in this Polynesia you have dreamed of.
Moorea, a little paradise where life is so good…

Moorea takes its name from a great Tahitian chief. In the past, the island also had the pretty name of Aimeho which meant "hidden food" because the island was the refuge of fugitive Tahitian warriors.
A volcanic massif with an area of 135 km2, Moorea was born around two million years ago and is the sister island of Tahiti. They are only 17 km apart... only 7 minutes by plane to find yourself on an island of exceptional beauty.
The flowers are abundant, the lagoon is magnificent. Moorea is considered one of the most beautiful islands in the Pacific. There you will discover superb landscapes of mountains and valleys whose green contrasts wonderfully with the turquoise of the lagoon.
The light there is magical due to the very pronounced relief of the island and the sunsets are unique.
Mount Rotui, like the guardian of distant times, mysteries and magic, offers a stunning spectacle. It rises to 899m and is framed by two superb bays: Cook's Bay and Opunohu Bay.
Captain Cook stayed in the bay that bears his name in 1777.
At the time it was called Pao Pao.
Opunohu Bay is the wildest. At the end of the bay stands the Tohiea or "shark's tooth", a superb rocky peak.

Moorea is an island that you cannot miss and that is often difficult to leave.
It is a true pearl of Polynesia, a garden of Eden where time no longer stands, where we forget everything...we are at the end of the world, Moorea has bewitched us.
It is a large and fabulous butterfly that spreads its wings in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

The TIAHURA district where the Fenua Mata'i'oa hotel is located is considered the most beautiful site in Moorea.
It is located in the northwest of the island.
This is the site of motus and encounters with rays and sharks.

It is a paradise for water sports, boat trips, diving but also for relaxation and the good life.
The island is a delight at every moment.
Here, flowers have an important social character which goes from the offering of a flower necklace as a sign of welcome (maeva in Polynesian) to the warrior finery of the fierce tanés.

At the FENUA MATA'I'OA Hotel, you will be greeted with flower necklaces and welcome cocktails.

When you leave, we will offer you shell necklaces.
